East Bay Open Studios

I'm excited to tell you about an exciting free art event that I am participating in this June along with more than 200 other artists.

The New East Bay Open Studios Event begins on Friday, June 2 at the festive Opening Celebration/Preview Exhibition and After-Party at the beautiful, historical 16th Street Train Station in Oakland. I will be showing my artwork in the Preview Exhibition at the Opening Celebration along with 100 other artists at the train station. After the Preview portion of the evening, there will be an After-Party with a cash bar, food options and inspiring live performances sponsored by Salle des Artistes. The Opening Celebration portion of the event is by invitation only, so I would like to invite you to come and be our guest. You won't want to miss this! To receive your invitation, please click here to submit your name for our guest list - http://eastbayopenstudios.com/guest

The Opening Celebration is then followed by two inspiring weekends (June 10/11 and 17/18) of self-guided tours of artist studios and exhibitions throughout 15 different cities in the East Bay.  This is a great opportunity for you and other art lovers to come out and meet the artists in person, ask questions, view their art and make purchases directly from the artists themselves and in some cases watch live demonstrations and enjoy refreshments. I will be showing work at the Bothwell Arts Center during Weekend 1 which is Saturday and Sunday, June 10th and 11th from 11 am - 6 pm. I am number 205 in the artist directories and on the maps.

Creative Rhythm Art Exhibition

Three of my works will be on display at the Bankhead Theater Gallery for "Creative Rhythm".

A colorful mix of mediums, styles, and color palettes will demonstrate visual beauty through the creation of rhythm as part of a new exhibit in the Gallery at the Bankhead Theater. “Creative Rhythm” features works of photography, acrylics, oils, watercolors and collage which show ballerinas and fire dancers, as well as the nature’s beauty and pure abstractions of light and color. Curated by the Bothwell Arts Center, “Creative Rhythm” will be on display at the Bankhead Theater Gallery from May 3 through June 26, 2017.

An Artists’ Reception for “Creative Rhythm” will be held Saturday, May 20th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Free and open to the public, the reception provides an opportunity to admire the works and meet some of the artists. The afternoon event will feature two forms of another rhythmic art form: dance. Special guests Condanza will perform in the lobby, demonstrating a vibrant rhythm of movement that is a perfect tribute to the exhibit’s art. Guests are invited to enjoy light refreshments and wine.

Part of the Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center, the Visitor’s Center and Gallery is located in the lobby of the Bankhead Theater at 2400 First Street, Livermore, and is open seven days a week from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. Admission is free. Three Special Recognition Awards for "Color: Bold/Subtle"

I am proud to announce that three of my works (Burmskadeedle, Zimstramaloo, and Igzeedoo) received Special Recognition in the 13th Annual "Color: Bold/Subtle" Juried International Online Art Exhibition through Upstream People Gallery.  The show will be showcased this month (July 2016) then moved to the archive section online for an indefinite period.

Juror's Statement:

"COURTNEY JACOBS of Pleasanton, California provides a number of rather lyrical expressions in acrylic. "Burmskadeedle", a fanciful title, is so rhythmic that one may feel like dancing all about. Her "Zimstramaloo" skips and slides as well. The tonal drama and the textured areas which seem to slow the movement is like a night parade. The favored piece "Igzeedoo" is like a Cy Twombly but with a jubilance that uplifts."
